| Description / विवरण | This is part of a panel depicting a relief of nritta dancing Ganesha. He has four hands.He carries ankusha and bowl with modaka in the right and left upper hand respectively.His right hand is in abhaya mudra whereas left lower hand is thrown across in the form of gaja-hasta.Ganesha wears a two tiered crown,a vakshahara,kankana and nupura.Head is tilted to right and the fan like ears have foldings.His pot belly is secured with a serpent. The trunk turned to left is sniffing the modaka, a common feature noticed in the depiction of Ganesha.His right leg bent at knee rests on the ground whereas left leg also folded at knee is turned towards the right leg. The lower garment is tied with a kati and the plaits suspends between the legs.On the rear side reliefs of three goblins is noteworthy.On stylistic grounds this relief may be ascribed to Rashtrakuta period. |
