| Description / विवरण | Tanpura much similar to Sitar has a big guard shaped tumba having arched leaf plates decorated over it. It is fixed with a concave plate tabli over it with a piped wooden coil. The belly is attached to a long handle dand . The belly and handle both are hollow from inside. It has four nobs fixed to the upper part of the handle. Two knobs are fixed to the front side while two others are fixed to its two sides. The concave portion has a wooden groove over it for starching the iron wires so that it does not touch the plate. The groove has four cut marks over it for fixing the wires. There are two wooden beads with which two wires are tied at the bottom portion of the belly. Two wires are missing. The tanpura has floral decoration around the joining areas. |
