| Description / विवरण | Lakshmi as Sridevi -- standing in samabhanga aspect. There is a makara torana all around with kirti mukha motif in the centre on the top. She is adorned with karanda makuta. She has long pointed nose. The ear lobes are long and decorated with chakra kundalas. It is four armed. The two rear hands carry lotus buds, while the right front hand is in abhaya mudra and the front left hand in varada mudra. The face is oval in shape. There are two tight necklaces kantha malas on the chest around the neck. There is also a kucha bandha. The waist is sharp and curved. The drapery consists of purnoruka full garment tied by a mekhala girdle with tassels and folds. The dhoti falls up to the ankle level. On the hind side the ends of the dhoti fall up to the floor level on either side. Other ornaments include Keyuras, wristlets, anklets and manjiras. The image stands on a lotus pedestal. It seems to belong to vijayanagara period School of Art. The prabhavali around is profusely carved with foliage patterns. |
