| Description / विवरण | Ganesa seated in ardha paryankasana. Conspicuously enough it is devoid of any crown or Kirita makuta and only two handed, which indeed is an important feature from iconographical point of view. The image is heavy and bulbous in proportion. It has a flat head with a head band around on the top. The ears are broad and fan like. The right hand rests on the knee vertically with a closed fist, while the left hand hangs down and bent forward holding the modaka. The trunk is short which turns immediately towards left and touches the sweetmeat in the left palm. The ornaments include a thick beaded necklace, bahuvalayas, anklets and a Naga udara bandha. It appears that the image has no yajnopavita which is another important feature. On the whole the image seems to belong to the early Chalukya idiom. |
