| Description / विवरण | The left side and lower portion of the image are missing. The angry God is shown in the act of ripping open the belly of the demon whom he has forced back upon his uplifted knee. He bends forward exerting the full weight of his body which is emphasized by the powerful shoulders and the bold diagonal movement of the left hand across the chest. The face of the God is that of a lion, with broad snout, heavy whiskers, and a protuberance at the bridge of the nose. The mane is disposed in short flamelike tufts and falls over the shoulders. The jewellery is simple consisting of a collar, a beaded upavita, and a winding vanamala composed of a double row of flowers. The petaled halo rests on the cross-bar of the throne-back; a flying Vidyadhara couple, carved against clouds, hovers on top; a rampant vyala and traces of an attendant figure can be seen on the right below the cross-bar. |
