| Description / विवरण | The God lies on the coils of Sesa, the two reclining on a bed. He supports his head with the upper left hand. The lower right hand holds the mace while the upper and lower left hands hold the cakra and sankha respectively. The relatively simple jewellery consists of a kiritamukuta, a necklace, and a vanamala. The outstretched right leg should have rested in the lap of the now mutilated figure of Laksmi. Behind her are two female and one male figure preceded by a lotus plant with coiled offshoots. Brahma, seated on a lotus, can be seen just above the left arm of Visnu. In the top register, to the right, are the seven Matrkas flanked by Virabhadra and Ganesa, and to the left are four seated male figures, two of them badly damaged. In the lower register is a seated Goddess flanked by Nagas and a divine couple carrying jars. At the sides are representations of fish, turtle, makara, and ratnapatras all indicating the Primeval Ocean. |
