| Description / विवरण | |
| Description / विवरण | The fragment, broken a little less than halfway from the top, appears to have belonged to a relatively small doorframe of no more than three bands. At the base of the innermost band is Ganga standing on a makara. The posture is swaying and graceful, the left hand is raised and must have held a pot, and the right hand is lowered to the side. The Goddess wears a diaphanous lower garment, the end ala fluttering scarf being visible behind the right hand. The simple ornaments consist of an ekavali and large circular earrings (tatanka cakra). The hair is done in dhammilla fashion. A diminutive female attendant shields her with a chatra, while a Mahadharadeva hovers near her head. Above the Goddess is a chequered panel, and above that a foliated lotus rhizome issuing from the navel of a seated dwarf Yaksa. The central band of the jamb (stambhasakha) consists of a pilaster with an overflowing pot base, a square shaft decorated with a chequered panel, candrasalika with kirttimukha and a demi-rosette above a band filled with foliated scrolls. A short octagonal upper section with female cauri-bearers standing against the side chamfers and a partly preserved ghata-pallava capital provide the transition to the crosset. The outer band of the doorjamb consists of palmates duped by a floral plaque (srivrksa). |
