| Description / विवरण | Gaja Kesari motif is decorative art piece of temple chariot. Its shows a man over a caparisoned horse holding the reins of horse with his right hand while his left hand kept on the sword, riding over the lion kesari . He wears a turban and other facial features are abraded. The lion is shown seated on its raised legs and the fore legs are raised as if it is carrying the horse. It is shown as tired animal with wide open mouth and long protruding tongue exposing teeth, bulged projected round eye balls, raised ear lobes. Probably another rein is connected to the neck of the horse and the neck of the lion inorder to control the animals. He wears a conical tiered turban, kundalas, armlets and wristlets. Here the lion, kept its head down, rested its forelegs on pedestal. The bracket figure is carved in a niche with pilaster motifs on either front side one is broken . The rider wears a flat hat with conical top. He shows prominent moustache, long nose, thin lips, oval face. He wears kundalas. His two legs are shown on one side as if he is getting down from the animal. The face of lion is broken. |
