The god Vishnu is seated in ardha paryankasana posture with the left leg bent in wards, while the right leg hangs down , inclining towards right , with the foot resting on the pitha. In this left lap is the goddess Lakshmi seated. His head is decorated with karanda makuta with three receding tiers and capped by a tall conical band on the front. The ears adorned with Chakra kundalas. He has four hands. The right rear arm holds a flower while the front right hand holds the rosary slightly broken . The left rear holds a mace while the front left embraces the goddess from behind and passes it around and holds the left breast with his palm. He wears, around his neck, kanta malas and garland like hara on the chest. There is also yajnopavita in two strands across the left shoulder. Other ornaments include bhuja kirtis, keyuras, armlets etc. He wears a short lower garment around the loin, tied to a girdle. To his left is the consort lakshmi seated on his left lap. She is also seated almost in the same manner like Narayana with the right leg hanging down loose while the left leg is bent and turned inwards i.e. to right . Her head is decorated with plaited jata makuta and she has two hands. Her right hand passes around the back of the god Narayana from behind while the left holds a lotus. Underneath the leg of the god Narayana is a worshipper playing cymbals or hoding the hands together in anjali mudra. There is a prabhavali all around the image, with kirtimukha motif in the centre. The images are well polished and smooth. |
