| Description / विवरण | The Kalyansundra Murti depicts the parinaya scene of Shiva with Parvati a heavenly couple. He is shown four armed standing gracefully and holds a trisula with upper right hand and the kapala-danda is held in his left hand. He receives the hand of Parvati with one of his right hands shown in Parinaya-posture and the other hand is shown without any object. Shiva is well ornamented as usual including three stringed necklace which is flowing upto his naval. A long vaijayantimala flows around the body hanging upto the knee of the diety. Parvati faces Shiva and she has offered her right hand to the hand of bridegroom gracefully in pose of the parinaya. She holds the uttariya with her left hand. She is also ornamented. On this marriage occasion the heavenly Purohita Brahma is also present in the center of the peetha. To the left of Parvati a female figure is visible. On either side of Paravati and Shiva mangal kalasas pitchers are placed. On the top middle a yogi like figure is seen and on either side of the couple flying vidyadharas with garlands are seen. |
