| Description / विवरण | |
| Description / विवरण | Carved in round this torso of a dwarf gana is usually associated with gods and goddesses.Ganas form integral part of decoration of rockcut-caves, temples at Badami.Despite obliteration of hands and lower limbs the extant figure of Gana exhibits subtle expression.Head is decorated with rings of curly hairs terminating with a tuft like protrusion at the top.He wears a beaded necklace and a udarabandha. He is pot bellied and faint remains of lower garment held by a beaded katibandha is decernible. The plumpy face shown looking up admiring something is clearly brought out in the wide opened eyes. Nose and lips are obliterated. On stylistic basis this short statured gana may be ascribed to the early chalukyan period. |
