| Description / विवरण | This image depicts Ganesha seated in sukhasana. He wears a two tiered crown over the well carved elephant head. The comparatively small ears have pointed end.He has four hands. Right upper hand holds a samkha where as lower hand is obliterated.Left upper hand holds a trisula and lower hand holds modaka bowl on which rests the left turned trunk.Of the two small tusks protruding below the trunk right tusk is broken.He is pot bellied and as usual serpent is tied around it.He is bedecked with wristlets, anklets and padasaras. A beaded skandhamala decorates both the shoulders and a multiple stranded yajnopavita suspends from the left shoulder, across the chest and goes under the right lower arm. He is shown wearing a antariya.His right foot rests on a small mushika, his celetial vehicle. The image may be ascribed to the Rashtrakuta period on stylistic grounds. |
