| Description / विवरण | The wheel refixed against the face of the northern wall of Gallery no 1 is reconstructed with 36 architectural fragments collected from the sun temple and modern stone. Through the shape and size of the wheel is imitated and resembled to the original one, the location of individual pieces are not strictly in conformity with the original. The wheel consists of an axle kept in position by a pin, a hub a felly and sixteen spokes, of which eight are broad and the other eight thin. The hub is decorated with beaded rings and a row of lotus petals. The circular medallion on the face of the axle depicts flying figure of Kamadeva. The fully with elaborate scroll work within bearded borders contains within many foils birds and beasts in various actions. The project beyond the thin ones are mostly modern reconstructions. The central parts of the broad spoke of the wheel assume rightly the shape of a diamond. Their circular medallions contain an alasakanya with two attendants, a royal person sitting on a couch, mithuna figures etc. |
