| Description / विवरण | This is part of a cornice usually provided as a protective cover above the walls of a temple.Its dressed exterior is decorated with a strip of floral motif with bead designed border. The relief on the inner face depicts lone female figure and group of male figures. The seated male figure to the right holds his folded left hand near the chest whereas the right hand rests on the thigh of the female figure seated to his right.He wears a turreted crown and decked with karnakundala,vakshahara,keyura and kankana as ornaments.He appears to be in a joyful mood.Similarly the female counterpart is shown with kundala,neklace and kankana as ornaments and the coiffure is done with a roundish tuft.She holds some object in her left hand and the right hand rests on her thigh.At the extreme left a standing male figure is shown holding some object in both the hands. He is decked in typical ornaments and all the three figures are atttired in lower garment. In between the seated figures three male faces and with usual ornamentation are shown in relief. The crowded composition of figures in the inner face of cornice is noteworthy and the style of art is typical of the early-chalukyan period. |
