| Description / विवरण | In the temples of early-chalukyan period cornices provided above the wall, decorated on both the sides, form an important element of architecture.In this fragment of cornice the upper portion is decorated with rows of flowers with bead designed border.The curved inner portion with three stepped rafters appears replica of wooden architecture and below it the reliefs of three dwarf figures ganas is intersting.The dwarf at the left side is depicted in reclining posture whereas the figure at the centre is shown blowing a samkha conch holding it in both the hands.The dwarf at the right side is playing drum in both the hands.Braided hair of all three figures is tied with a band and they are decorated with ornaments such as karnakundala,vakshahara,kankana and nupura. The playful expression and composition is typical of the early-chalukyan period. |
