| Description / विवरण | This image was recovered in the shrine of Hariti at the site of Ghositarama monastery along with an image of Hariti and a male head, identified as that of Kubera. The portion below the thighs is absent. Her right hand, raised in abhaya pose is damaged and her left hand is placed on the waist and a lotus stalk in shown issuing from it. The lotus flower is shown just above her left breast. The decorated band encircles her forehead and immediately above, in the place of coiffure or headdress, two tiny elephants are shown who are anointing the Goddess with water falling from the pitchers held in their trunks. There are three incised semicircles on the broad forehead, one in the middle and two at the temples. These are filled with ridges denoting hair. In the centre of the forehead is the round auspicious mark. The Goddess is decked out with a range of ornaments. |
