| Description / विवरण | It consisted of full blown seven petels of lotus with a hanging device. Its bottom surface contains the inscription in circular form at the edge of the lamp. The translation of the text reads The meritorious gift was made by venerable Dharmapradipa, the Sakya-Bhiksu in honour of Lord Buddha for the Gandhakuti at Ghositarama. Religious merit accruing from it should be for the enlightment of all living beings. The mention of Gandhakuti in the inscription is significant for the identification of its location. The proposed identification of the block of two rooms Memorial Structure , situated away from the general residential complex being close to the Main Stupa, as Gandhakuti seems to be highly plausible, particularly in view of the provenance of the lamp, being the floor of this structure. |
