| Description / विवरण | |
| Description / विवरण | The four armed standing of visnu carries an unidentified object and a conch in the upper right and left hand respectively. The lower left hand holds the discuses which rests on the personified Cakrapurusa. The lower right hand and the corresponding ayadhapurusa are missing. The god wears ekavali a heavy vanamala and a cylindrical crown with festoon hanging from the central and side plaques, a motif derived from Kusana period turbans. On the plain circular halo is carved a pleated sirascakra and the two ends of the fillet float out on either side. The proportions of the figure are squat, the modelling taut, and in broad, spreading planes that have not yet attained the smooth sensuousness of the style of the mid 5th century. |
