| Description / विवरण | Pata Chitra is a religious folk art that has crossed the national boundaries to reach the international area. The painting depicts mythological character in the full glory with the colourfully traditional art. It is made by paper and gluing layers of old cotton cloth and with tamarind glue and chalk to creat a leather like surface illustrating scenes from popular Hindu mythological stories playing an important part in the oral transmission of tradition. Here are used earth colour. This painting depicts Manasa mangla narrative poem. Painters sing simple narrative songs relating to these stories and show the public their scolls while singing from door to door. |
