| Description / विवरण | The flying four armed bady shaped Gana raising a horn to his lips. The body of the Gana is said to be inflated; in this respect the Ganas are seen rolling about, making merry and blowing on various types of musical instruments. In the temple architecture they are associated with Siva family mostly and are often carved on the door jambs. The Gana in the present sculpture also acts as a weight carrier and seems to carry in the sky tow stretched palms. The present sculputre is a bracket figure and one of its side shows a warrior on horse back aiming his arrow at a lion ready to spring on him. In the Bainjath temple it is specially mentioned in the inscription that care has been taken to carve the Gana figures on the body of the temple. |
