| Description / विवरण | Narasimha is one of the ten incarnations of Vishnu. Vishnu takes the form of half man and half lion to destroy the demon Hiranyakasipu. Narasimha images are of three types i Girija- Narasimha ii Sthauna- narasimha iii Yanaka-Narasimha , stands over a lotus pedestal. His upper right hand holds an indistinct object and the upper left hand holds a lotus stalk. Hiranyakasipu is stretched on the left thigh of Narasimha, who is in the tribhanga posture. With two hands he rips open the belly of the demon. On both sides of the image, there are attendants which are not clearly visible due to erosion. |
