| Description / विवरण | |
| Description / विवरण | The god stands erect, facing to the front, and carrying a bijapuraka, the mace gada , a large discus cakra , and a conch sankha in his four hands. His ornaments include a cylindrical crown with festoons hanging from circular plaques, a vanamala reaching to the thighs, a plain necklace, and dissimilar earrings. The lower garment is secured by a plain girdle. The soft modeling, squat proportions and iconographic features such as the raised mace and the large discus and conch are features reminiscent of late Kusana Visnu images from Mathura cf. V. S. Agrawala, Studies in Indian Art, Figure 106 but the shape of the crown and the modeling of the face recall images of the early 5th century from Udayagiri and Vidisa. |
