| Description / विवरण | A set of three copper plates held together by a ring attached to a ladle-shaped seal was first discovered by a cultivator in the village Sutr 257 rg 257 on by the side of the river Kalang near the small town of Puranigudam of Nagaon district of Assam. From the cultivator the plates reached the hands of a certain Police Inspector, who handed over the same to M.M. Dhiresvara Bhattacharyya. The text was first published by Mah 257 nahop 257 dhy 257 ya in a contemporary number of the Assamese magazine named 256 s 257 m. In 1893 Sir Edward Gait, the Director of the Antiquarian Studies ,Assam took the copper plates from the Mah 257 mahop 257 dhy 257 and sent them to the Asiatic Society of Bengal, Calcutta. Dr. Hoernle published the text translation and notes and photograph of the seal and the plates in the Journal of Asiatic society of Bengal 1897. These Plates are now preserved in the Assam State Museum, Guwahati. Through this inscription, King Balavarman III donated an area of paddy to a Br 257 hmana Bhatta belonging to K 257 pila gottra. |
