| Description / विवरण | |
| Description / विवरण | It is a cuboid shaped decorative block carved out of a granite boulder. There are human figurines carved on the frontal and there are several square-shaped shallow depressions and metal clamp impressions carved on top surface. In this panel the artisan attempted to portray a scene from Ramayana where Sita is abducted by Ravana and is confronted by a giant mythical bird named Jatayu. From right to left, a large bird Jatayu shown trying to rescue Sita from the clutches of Ravana. The bird is seen to be flapping its enormous feathers and arduously attacking Ravana with its beak. Ravana, in the middle, represented with four arms and though weathered heavily, is found to be intricately adorned with ornaments. He is clenching the arm of Sita with his right hand. The additional right hand is holding a mace-like object. On his left hand, Ravana is seen using Chandrahasa, the indestructible celestial sword gifted by Shiva according to epic Ramayana, while defending himself against Jatayu s attack. He is holding a bow with his additional left hand. Here, Sita is helplessly standing behind Ravana while the other two are engaged in a fatal duel. |
