| Description / विवरण | The pillar is inscribed on both sides. It is square at its base and hexagonal above. The base is decorated with some carvings representing a stupa and a floral design in the centre, a hooded naga on the left and a railing with a chaitya - window on the right. The frontal inscription is in the 4th C.A.D. characters and records the erection of the Dharmachakra pillar on the eastern gateway of Mahavihara at Dhanakataka by Amacha and Atapora for the welfare and happiness of all worldly beings. On the back is an inscription of 12th C.A.D. in Telugu characters. |
