| Description / विवरण | Oil painting on wood, portrait of Dom. Joao De Castro,4th Viceroy from 1545 to 1548 A.D.He initiated preparation of portraits of Governors and viceroys furter he ordered to prepare the portraits of his 13 predecessors. After him the tradition ofpreparation of portrait of governors and Viceroys continued.This Portrait was carried to Portugal for treatment prior toindependence 1960 ;later brought back after the treatmenthowever the upper ;layer of the portrait was removed and belowit there was a painting of same person with different style was retained. |
