| Description / विवरण | This is a copper paisa issued by Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan 1782 - 99 A.D. . Obverse Elephant moving to the left. The date which generally appears above the back of the elephant is not legible for being obliterated. Reverse Bears legend, within a circle, mentions the name of the coin as zohra and the mint- name as Zarb-e-Nagar i.e. minted at Bednur in,Shimoga district .Shimoga is a district headquarters in the modern Karnataka State and Nagar was a mint town renamed as Bednur during the riegn of of Tipu Sultan. |
