| Description / विवरण | This is a small roundish copper coin issued during the rule of Chalukyas of Badami. Obverse Vishnu as Nri-Varaha or Bhu-Vraraha which appears frequently in the sculptures of Chalukyas of Badami.Interestingly the figure ofNri-Varaha on the coin is two armed with right hand resting on the kati.He is shown standing in alidha posture with left leg folded at knee and probably resting on Adi sesha .Right leg is staight and firm.The boar headed god with lengthy snout appears fondling earth goddess probably resting on his left elbow. He wears a kirita makuta. Reverse Two letters of 6th cent.A.D. character reading ta pva is interesting. |
