Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | In this relief carved on a thick block,a male figure Hero seated on a throne in ardhaparyankasana, within a pilastered mandapa is depicted .His right hand rests on the right thigh whereas left hand is kept akimbo.Left foot is firmly kept on the ground.Due to weathering details are eroded, however faint outline indicates he is decked with ornaments such as kundala, vakshahara etc., and a crown. He is flanked by a female chauri bearer each on either side standing in tribhanga, who are decorated with ornaments and antariya. They are shown holding the chauri in the right and left hand respectively. The gable type roof with slopy sides adorned with a half medallion at the centre resting over pilasters is noteworthy. On stylistic grounds this mandapa shaped herostone may be ascribed to the early - chalukyan period. |
