| Description / विवरण | This sculpture carved in high relief depicts a seated male figure.Despite erosion of surface due to weathering, the extant features discernible show that, he is two armed.He wears a crown and decked with ornaments viz.,karnakundala and vakshahara.He is pot bellied and wears lower garment. Seated in sukhasana he appears to carry padma in his right hand whereas left hand appears to hold a citron or chauri.These attributes may indicate that the figure under reference could be of padmanidhi, a guardian of treasures, attending upon kubera and usually represented in shrines as a door guardian. On stylistic grounds may be ascribed to early-chalukyan period. |
