Description / विवरण | Goddess Indrani, who is regarded as one of the seven matrakas, the female counterpart of Indra,is worshipped independently as the bestower of prosperity. In this high relief she is shown seated in padmasana and wears lower garment held by a katibandha with the plait at the centre resting on the folded foot. She wears a three tiered karanda makuta and austere halo behind the head is noteworthy.Left part of her face as well as nose is damaged and she is shown with the third eye as per Amsumadbedha.Wide opened eyes have prominent eye brows. Her ornament comprise karnakundala, kanthahara, vakshahara, keyura and kankana. The upavita suspends from the left shoulder and runs across the right side of abddomen. She carries goad ankusha and bolt vajra in the right and left upper hand respectively. The lower right hand is in protection abhaya posture whereas right lower hand holds citron matulunga .She is depicted with a narrow belly and broad shoulders. Her celestial vehicle elephant is shown in low relief on the front face of base.Tenon below the sculpture indicates it was firmly fixed to a socketed pedastal. The sculpture in two parts is subsequently mended.
