| Description / विवरण | In this stele a high relief of a torso of a shiva dvarapala or door guardian standing in tribhanga is depicted.Head and portion below knee,both lower hands and portion above wrist of both upper hands are missing.The extant image depicts he has four arms. Due to damage, attributes held in the hands are not discernible except serpent coiled mace on which left lower hand was resting. Mace surface depicts rib design.He is bejewelled with ornaments such as kanthihara, a broad vakshahara with a large gem at the middle, a four sranded hara with a central locket,skandhamala, channaveera,kankana and a lone nupura on the left leg.He wears a upavita which suspends from the left shoulder and passes across the right side of belly.The uttariya resting on the left shoulder hangs down like a garland and rests on the right thigh. The elaborately decorated lower garment is held by a flat katibandha which has a circular buckle at the centre.on stylistic grounds this relief may be ascribed to late-chalukyan period. |
