| Description / विवरण | In the temples of early-chalukyas of Badami, loose sculptures or reliefs of lion are invariably found as part of the temple decoration. This is fore-part of a unfinished lion.Its back portion and limbs are missing.Extant part depicts the lion the head slightly bent forward. The finished face, looking ferocious, exhibits protruded eyes having prominent eyebrows,damaged nose and opened mouth.It has short straight ears at the side of the head and two rows of prominent mane with curved end is shown below the neck.The portion over the head and extant back portion reveal chisle marks indicting the unfinished status. |
