| Description / विवरण | This sculptural fragment depicts the head and part of neck of a seated Nandi or Bull, the celestial vehicle of god shiva. It has short ears at the side of head and the eyes are arranged obliquily with prominent eyebrows. A flat band tied with floral bunch at both ends, is provided across the forehead.Faint out line of nostrils and the mouth is noteworthy.Neck is decorated with a series of striations.Two strings of the rope around the neck terminates with a knot on the back.Short horns adorn the head.The serene expression on the face and other features meticulously depicted is typical of the scuptors of late-chalukyan period. |
