| Description / विवरण | In some of the temples of Karnataka belonging to late-chalukyan and Hoyasala period erotic sculptures are noticed.This tradition appears to have continued during the vijayanagara period as well.In this high relief amorous couple fornicate in standing posture.The lady is shown in lower garment is slightly bent forward and rests her left hand on the shoulder of male figure who is in the act and caressing her left bosom. His head and legs are obliterated. He is attired in lower garment. The lady is bedecked with ornaments such as kundala,vakshahara and nupura.She has broad eyes,sharp lips and pointed chin.On stylistic grounds this relief may be ascribed to vijayanagara period. |
