| Description / विवरण | This is a decorative gavaksa used as facing slab of a pediment forming the decorative part of a temple super structure.The chaitya window terminating at the apex with a kirtimukha is decorated with full blown flowers positioned at regular interval.The central depression has a relief of a four handed devine figure vishnu seated in sukhasana flanked probably by gadadevi to right and garuda to left side standing and folding their hands in anjali mudra.Austere halo behind the head indictes the divinity of the figure.He wears a crown and bedecked with ornaments such as kundala,vakshahara,keyura and kankana.Yanjnopavita suspends from the left shoulder and passes along the right thigh. He is attired in lower garment held by a katibandha. He carries conch and discus in the upper and lower right hands respectively and lotus flower in the left upper hand whereas lower left hand rests on the left thigh.Due to erosion most of the details are lost and this relief may be ascribed to early-chalukyan period. |
