| Description / विवरण | In this panel seven goddesses or Saptamatrikas are shown seated upon a low pedastal in virasana.Matrikas are flanked by virabhadra Shiva and Ganesha on the right and left sides respectively.Each figure is distinguished by reliefs of their vehicles depicted on the base.The panel is highly weathered however faint impressions reveal ornaments such as karnakundalas,vakshahara etc., worn by them and the attributes held include noose, chakra, damaru,rosary,sword etc., Shiva wears jatamakuta and probably holds antelope ordamaru and battle axe in the two upper hands whereas lower hands hold a vina. Ganesha carries goad and broken tusk in the upper lower right hands respectively whereas left upper hand holds flower and bowl with modaka in the lower hand on which rests the left turned trunk.Brahmani,Maheshvari and Chamunda wear jatamakuta whereas other dietis wear kirita makuta. Face of varahi and Indrani are obliterated. Surface is peeling off in some figures.Stylisticall this panel may be ascribed to early chalukyan period. |
