Description / विवरण | This is part of a saptamatrika panel. The extant portion depicts the relief of Indrani,Chamunda seated in virasana and Ganesha seated in sukhasana.The right arms of indrani are missing.In the extant left lower arm she holds a waterpot whreas upper hand holds a bolt vajra .Her celetial vehicle elephant is depicted in relief below her folded left leg.She wears a karandamakuta and bedecked with ornaments such as kanthahara,vakshahara and karnakundalas. Antariya is held by a girdle.Chamunda depicted with emaciated body has four arms. She holds sword and trident in the lower and upper right hands respectively whereas her left lower and upper hands hold skullcup and noose in that order. She is decorated with ornaments viz.,karnakundala,kanthahara,vakshahara and nupura.A lengthy rundamala as upavita suspends from the left shoulder.Antariya is held by a girdle.Her celestial vehicle is depicted with a animal resembling a fox in relief at the base instead of corpse or owl. To the left of chamunda is Ganesha having four arms. He holds broken tusk and goad in the lower right and upper hand and bowl with modaka and noose in the left lower and upper hands respectively. The damaged trunk rests on the modaka bowl.As usual naga is tied to the pot belly. He wears a karandamakuta and ornaments like kankana and nupura.Both eyes arranged horizontally is noteworthy.His celetial vehicle rat mushaka is shown in relief at the base.On stylistic grounds this panel may be ascribed to the late-chalukyan period. |
