| Description / विवरण | This is part of a lengthy panel depicting Saptamatrikas.The extant portion reveals two bold reliefs of matrikas depicting Brahmani and vaishnavi seated in virasana with left leg hanging down and the right leg placed on the right thigh.Both have four arms.Brahmani wears a kirita makuta with three crests and has a thick band at the bottom.Nose,chin and lips are partly obliterated.The face is round and plumpy and wide opened eyes are bordered with bow like eye brows.She is bedecked with ornaments such as karnakundalas,two stranded vakshahara and keyura. A thin upavita suspends across the left shoulder. Antariya is held by a beaded katibandha.The left upper hand holds sacrificial ladle and one of the right arm holds rosary and attributes in other hands are damaged.Similarly Vaishnavi seated to left of Brahmani wears a kirita makuta with three crests and a thin band at the bottom.Nose and lips are damaged .Other features are identical to Brahmani including ornaments, upavita and antariya.In her lower right hand holds mace gada and upper hand holds chakra whereas the upper left and part of left lower shoulder and fore arm is visible. On stylistic grounds this panel may be ascribed to the Rashtrakuta period. |
