Description / विवरण | This torso depicting a male diety stands strictly in frontal position.All four hands and the portions below the thighs are missing.He is shown wearing a kirita makuta and the curly hair locks jutting out on either side of the makuta rests on both the shoulders.Austere halo behind the head ic noteworthy.He is bedecked with karna kundala, keyura and vakashahara.A long, bead designed, ceremonial thread upavita suspends from the left shoulder and runs across the fore arm of lower right hand. He wears a three stranded udarabandha. The lower garment is held by a bead designed twisted katisutra with a round knot shown resting on the right waist.Though damaged the extant part of the sculpture displays artistic elegance and on stylistic grounds may be ascribed to the period of early chalukyas of Badami . |
