| Description / विवरण | This is an unfinished hero stone having three registers. The relief in the lowermost register depicts a battle scene wherein the hero weilding sword and shield is shown attacking the soldiers seated on pouncing horses carrying spear and swords. Hero is attired in a short lower garment and a thick hara worn around his neck is interesting. The central register depicts the deceased hero being carried to heaven by two female celestial beings holding chauri in the left and right hand respectively and the other hand is shown resting on the thigh and holding the arm of hero.The folded legs indicate they are air borne.The upper register represents the hero seated in sukhasana on a cushion holding a lotus in his right hand, flanked by a female chauri bearer standing in tribhanga on either side. Hero and female figures are bedecked with ornaments such as karnakundala, vakshahara and attired in diaphanous lower garments. On stylistic grounds this herostone may be ascribed to Rashtrakuta period. |
