| Description / विवरण | This is a seated Nandi Bull usally identified as the celestial vehicle of god shiva.In the shiva temples image of seated Nandi is found outside the sanctum facing the linga inside or found installed in a monolithic form in a seperate mandapa Nandi mandapa either facing the sanctum or the mahadvara.This bull is shown seated folding its three legs backward whereas front left leg is folded horizontally.It has prominent hump, ears are folded sideways and the eyes are arranged obliquily.It is decorated with a garland of bells and a hara around the back and neck respectively.Seated on a pedastal its head is turned to left.May be ascribed to late-chalukyan period.Striations on the rock surface is noteworthy. |
