| Description / विवरण | In this herostone reliefs are depicted in three registers.The lowermost register depicts the hero standing near the grove field and holding the plant probably indicating he is protecting the produce.His braided hair is held by a band and he is shown with undergarment tied with a kati.In the space between register above a single line inscription in kannada of 11-12thcenturyA.D.character is noticed.The relief in the middle register depicts the hero seated in sukhasana flanked by female chauri bearers standing on either side in tribhanga. The male figure is seated on a pedastal holding a flower in the right hand and the left hand is kept on the left thigh.He wears a upavita and adorned with kundalas,vakshahara etc.,Similarly the two female figures are decked with kundalas and vakshahara.The long lower garment is held by a katibandha.Their braided hair is done with a circular band.In the upper most register a seated male figure is shown worshipping a shiva linga fronted by a nandi. Stylistically datable to late-chalukyan period. |
