| Description / विवरण | This rectangular herostone cotains four registers depicting different scenes.The lowermost register depicts the hero holding bow and sword in his left and right hand respectively.He is shown stamping a male figure reclining in his left foot firmly and two rows of cattles in relief is behind him indicating he is defending them from a group of warriors thieves shown holding bow and sword.All figures wear lower garment and their hair dress is uniform with a tuft tilting to a side.In the second register from the bottom, a male figure obviously the deceased hero seated in a meditative posture within a mandapa like palanquin, is being carried to heaven by nymphs holding a flywhisker in one hand received by celestial male figures.In the third register the hero is shown seated before a shiva linga in anjali posture and a male figure standing before the linga is worshipping it and a nandi is seated in front. The uppermost register depicts shikhara motif with a series of finials atop.Sroll design on either side of shikhara is noteworthy. Stylistically datable to late-chalukyan period. |
