| Description / विवरण | This is part of a medium sized lintel decorated wiht bold carving of a relief of seated of Gajalakshmi.The extant relief depicts a highly decorated elephantwith its trunk obliterated, standing to the right of seated Lakshmi extant upto to the shoulder and shown holding lotus flower in her right hand. The elephant bedecked with rows of beaded ornaments tied with bells, across the neck and on the back portion is shown in a moving posture evident from the position of legs. The opened mouth and raised tail of elephant is noteworthy.On stylistic grounds this relief may be ascribed to the Rashtrakuta period. |
