| Description / विवरण | The portion from the hips to the ankles of the main image has broken off and the sculpture is damaged in several places. The goddess is shown standing on a lotus that issues from a node with profuse foliage carved on the pedestal. She wears a pearl torque, beaded necklace falling over the breasts, an upavita, and earrings of different designs in the two ears. The hair is done jatajuta and the small halo is in the form of a lotus. All the four arms are broken but above the left shoulder is a bowl-shaped altar from which issue flames. A similar altar is visible above the female attendant to the right of the goddess, and must have also been present on the left side and above the right shoulder. Emaciated ascetics are shown pouring sacrificial offerings into these altars. The goddess is accompanied by four female attendants, two on each side, holding flowers and garlands. The sides of the stele carry the usual vyala and makara decoration, immediately above which are representations of Karttikeya and Ganesa respectively. Also above are flying Vidyadharas flanking what is apparently the fifth fire altar, and six Lingas, one on the left and five on the right. |
