| Description / विवरण | A Vyala is a grotesque sculpture of composite parts of animals carved on a relief. Here, it is a Vyala carved in a mid- relief on a granite boulder. The Vyala is sculpted on a trapezoid- shaped boulder. There are two parts on the frontal side. One part is devoid of any decoration but the other half is sculpted with a Vyala. The lion is seen to be mounted on top of a miniature elephant. Upon observation, the head of the lion is facing right and seen to be biting its tail, the body seem to be positioned towards left. The body of the lion is unconventional ,taking a meandering shape. The elephant is craved on the left side and facing the same direction as that of the lion. They are standing on a lotus pedestal.There are two circular socket holes on the top part of the relief. |
