Description / विवरण | This is a stone image of the celestial being, Apsara in dancing posture. Apsaras also known as Nymph are found mentioned in epics and puranas.The figure is sensuously carved on the stone. Her right hand is rising with palm upwards, while her left hand is bend downwards holding the drapery on the left side. The figure is sharply carved which reflects the ethereal femininity possessing eternal beauty of the dancing pose. Her beasts are prominent and voluptuous with an attenuated waist. It can be seen that her hands are wrapped with a drapery end of which touches the pedestal. She wears a beautifully ornamented girdle and a Kativastra. The figure has a round face with dropping eyes. the goddess is adorned with a beautifully carved mukuta and kundala, girdle, hara, bala and keyura. |
