Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | This is a figurine of a female dancer in a low relief carved out of a granite block. The stele is rectangular in shape and has two open-ended sockets at the edge of the top surface which indicates that the image was used for hanged on a surface for admiration. Here the dancer is shown standing in a Tribhanga posture with left hand held closer to her chest holding on to a spherical attribute (ayudha). Her right hand is shown raised closer to the head but the mudra could not be deciphered due to extreme weathering. The facial features of the figurine are prominent. She has a broad nose, long eyebrows, leaf-shaped eyes and a wide smile on her face. She is adorned with Kanthabhushana (Necklace) covering her breasts, circular earrings (Kundalas) on both the ears, bracelet (Kangana), anklet (Nupura) on both the feet and a raindrop-shaped tilak on the forehead. A visible ornamented girdle is seen around the waist and the Antariya is seen dangling in between her thighs. Pieces of loose ends of the garment on either side of the figure are found to be waving in the air. |
