Description / विवरण | |
Description / विवरण | This is a figurine of a female dancer in a low relief carved out of a granite block. The stele is rectangular in shape and has an open-ended socket which indicates that the image was used for hanged on a surface for admiration. Here the dancer is shown standing in a Tribhanga posture with left hand in varada mudra and right hand is shown raised near to the head but the mudra could not be deciphered due to extreme weathering. The facial features of the figurine are prominent. She has a snub nose, long eyebrows, leaf-shaped eyes and a wide smile on her face. She is adorned with Kanthabhushana covering her breasts, circular Kundalas on both the ears. She is shown wearing a spiked headgear and a raindrop-shaped tilak on the forehead. A visible ornamented girdle is seen around the waist and the Antariya is seen dangling in between her thighs. |
